A LEGENDARY SINGER

Another day - Another legend๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ข

This 2020 is taking a toll on us. We seriously need to apologize to 2019 for saying bad things about it.

Yesterday, the always smiling face, closed his eyes. The most recognizable voice went silent.

We really wanted to pay a tribute for SPB sir. He was a great man, not to mention his singing.

That cute chubby smiling face with the soulful voice accompanied us through all the stages of our lives. Reassuring that our heart is still filled with emotions when we laugh, cry and smile with his voice. There could not be one soul who does not have a SPB song in their playlist.

When we thought, what could we choose about SPB to write in our blog. We were literally confused.

His songs? OMG!! 40000+ songs in a single blog, impossible. Even google misses 1 or 2.
His achievements? Those are also soooooo many.
His awards? Who are we talking about here... Let us remind ourselves.
Then what else???๐Ÿค”

Then it struck us. We can just pour our hearts out. Remembering those tiny and huge things about SPB. So, here we just converse with our heavy hearts...

That name strikes a lottttt of memories and information. We are just going to just talk about, those things which are dear to our heart!๐Ÿ’

1. Everything needs to have a beginning. The same way, our SPB's career started with

     Language     -                                      Song

a)  Telugu          -    Emiyee Vinta Moham

b)  Kannada       -   Kanasido Nanasido

c)  Tamil             -   Athaanodu Ippadi Irunthu Ethanai Naalaachu (not released)

d)  Malayalam    -   Ee Kadalum Marukadalum

e)  Hindi             -   Ek duje ke liye total album

Starting here, the bank of versatility in singing, sang over 40,000 songs in 16 languages!!

2. Our SPB has won numerous awards and he even made into the Guinness World Records. Though not classically trained our SPB still bagged his first National Award for Sankarabharanam. He won 6 National Awards for

a) Omkaara Nadhaanu in Sankarabharanam in the year 1979

b) Tere Mere Beech Mein in Ek Duje Ke Liye in the year 1981

c)  Vedam Anuvanuvuna in Saagara Sangamam in the year 1983

d) Cheppaalani Undhi in Rudraveena in the year 1988

e) Umandu Ghumandu in Sangeetha Sagara Ganayogi Panchakshara Gavai in the year 1995

f)  Thangai Thamarai Magale in Minsara Kanavu in the year 1996

3. Progressing in his singing career fantastically, he also dubbed for various artists like Nagesh, Rajinikanth, Gemini Ganesan, Girish Karnad, Salman Khan, etc. Our SPB was the default dubbing artist for all Kamal Hassan's Telugu dubbed Tamil movies. For the movie Dasavatharam, our SPB dubbed from 7 characters including the old lady character. It is indeed very difficult to find out if SPB has really dubbed Kamal or if Kamal is acting on SPB's voice.

4. You will say achieving all these needs consistent effort to care for his big asset, his voice! But no, he never took special care for his voice! Yes, you read it right, he never did. He, loving ice-cream and curd rice, used to eat those a lottttt. Now we know 1 of the reasons why he grew up to be our favorite chubby character!๐Ÿ˜Š Still, his voice was always magical throughout the years! Our tiny try to show you...

5. Our SPB even acted in films and serials. Yes, he acted in 2 Tamil and Telugu serials and acted 72 films in three different languages. He is probably the only singer to have acted in so many films in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. He can also speak these three languages very fluently. Here is our favorite clip of his dancing skills: https://youtu.be/KnFy0XWEePY

To our dear SPB sir,

Your appeal across generations can never ever be denied sir. We miss you a lott sir!

Just like in a song you sang, even though you left this physical world, you bloom always as music.

From morning devotional songs, to midday blue refreshers, to evening party songs and even to goodnight lullabies, your song never misses to be in any of the playlists.

No one else can replace you sir. Your contributions towards the Indian cinema will always be remembered and you shall be the Indian Hall of fame forever. You will always be alive through your songs. Miss you and may your soul rest in peace.

Always and always in remembrance of... S.P.Balasubramaniam!!
